King Edward VII Academy is pleased to announce that Charlotte Clark has been awarded the school’s prestigious Royal Gold Medal in recognition of her exceptional academic achievement and contribution to the life of the school.
Charlotte achieved an outstanding set of A‑level results of A* A* A, securing her progression to Durham University, where she now studies English Literature, one of the country’s most competitive and respected programmes.
The Royal Gold Medal is a longest‑established honour at KES. Originating in the school’s early history and first awarded in 1864, the Medal traditionally recognises excellence, scholarship, and the personal qualities that reflect the ethos and values of the school.
This year, on 1st February 2026, the Medal was formally presented by His Majesty King Charles III who met with Charlotte and mum Fiona, dad Paul and sister Betty following the ceremony. His Majesty offered congratulations and commended both Charlotte’s academic accomplishments and the unwavering support of her family.
During her time at KES, Charlotte has demonstrated an exceptional talent for English Literature, consistently producing work of depth, maturity, and originality.
Beyond her academic success, Charlotte made a substantial contribution to school life. She served as a Sixth Form Ambassador, representing the academy at open evenings and supporting younger students, and was actively involved in charity initiatives within the sixth form. Charlotte also worked as a ‘Reader Leader’, helping lower school students to develop their literacy skills. Her reliability, leadership, and positive attitude made her an excellent role model for others. Her election as a Senior Prefect reflects the high regard in which she is held by both staff and students.
Charlotte’s achievements place her among an esteemed group of former pupils who have received the Royal Gold Medal and gone on to contribute significantly in their chosen fields. Her success reflects the dedication of her family, the support of her teachers, and her own sustained commitment to excellence.
The entire KES community is beyond proud of her.
