Samantha Shields is Young Carers Lead at King Edward VII Academy. She supports students with caring responsibilities, ensuring they have the help they need to balance home and school life. She works with families, staff, and external agencies to provide practical and emotional support and raise awareness across the school community.
Could your child be a young carer? A young carer is a child or young person who helps look after a family member with an illness, disability, mental health condition, or addiction. Their responsibilities can include practical tasks, emotional support, or caring for siblings.
If you think this could be your child, please inform us by emailing samanthashields@inspirationtrust.org or kirstycolburnhayes@inspirationtrust.org
We can also advise you of the following external agency: 'Carers Matter Norfolk', for support outside of school
You can make a referral to them via this link: https://www.youngcarersmatternorfolk.org/contact/young-carers-referral-form/
And for advice over the phone, call the Carers Matter Norfolk advice line on 0800 083 1148
